Darn. Screwed up my maths test with yet another careless mistake. I often wonder how many mistakes I can make in my life. I honestly believe that I am testing God's paitence, not that I done it intentionally. However, I took heart on the mind-blowing presentation on Success by this Dr. Pica character. The clarity and arrangement of his presentation was something for me to note. But it was the message that he is sending this morning that set me thinking.

"If you do not try to change a little of yourself so as to become someone that you need to be to succeed, you will always be the same as before."

Dr. Pica clearly cited a perfect example with Tiger Woods and his swing. He mentioned that Tiger Woods first stepped into the lime light when he won the Masters Open in 1997. However, his only comment to the press was this: "My swing really sucks". That, you do not expect from someone who had just won a golf competition. But Woods set down and tried to change his style of swing by practising thousands of balls everyday with the swing that he intended to change to. Throughout the next 19 months, he only won 1 open tournament. However, his comments to the public was that "I feel I am playing better golf everyday". That, of course, shouldn't be coming out from someone who has lost a competition. 19 months later, Woods went on a winning streak for 10 out of 14 open tournaments, just because he has found "it".

Personally I have prayed and hope to learn from such people their perservance for changing themselves for their benefit. Dr. Pica also cited another example about this graduate student of his. Tom was this bright student who came in the first day to tell Dr. Pica that he would be doing very well in his course, which came to be true later on. However, he told Dr. Pica that he would not do presentations at all. Dr. Pica tried to advise him against his decision but Tom was firm. Later on in life, Tom managed to secure a good job and was promoted once or twice. One day came when Tom called Dr. Pica about his new assignment. Tom was to do a research for the Board of Directors of his company, which was really something. But he's got to present it. Dr. Pica posed to us this: if you cannot afford to make mistakes in school because you are worried about your GPA, do you think you can afford it when you reach the working society?

So much to learn for a day.
